Poems - broken man

broken man

by Greg

I feel your presence, like a salve on my wound
I look arond only to find you are not there
that is ok you have some healing to do
I here your voice and my heart sings, I feel you

I look in the mirror and what do I find
a man with scars on body and mind
I look at myself in quiet but open disdain
no more the illusion, I will not maintain

my body covered in the scars of my youth
lessons learned well, I tell you the truth
a broken finger never set, a fingertip and saw met
pain pills I got for my knees that are shot

my legs are scarred because of my folly
my stomache is big and far from jolly
these things I tell you so that you will know
when you see me this wont be a blow

I look in the mirror ashamed of what I see
what will it be when you look at me
I love you as you are, with all my heart
I will be here waiting and not just in part

I always feel worse for men in pain than women. i dont know why. I think it might have something to do with the fact that women are always in pain or complaining about something so i just see it as a "girl-drama"
Men hurt too, people tend to forget that. This is a great write greg.

A beautiful poem. Do not allow anyone to break you, if they cannot see past the scars into your soul, then it will be there loss.
