As I Awake Beside Him

He is the daylight
That rides through my hair when I awake
(From these nightmares).
The blankets around me
Like the warmest of cashmere.
The softest fabric like his kiss
That sits upon my forehead
And loves to linger...
As his touch floats away
I feel so cold
Like I've been left so far
Across the Arctic
In this Circle of love
That I've found myself in.
His skin so soft and
His smile so sweet
That he's given me this cavity...
That I'd dare not rid myself of.
Because then what would taste as good
As him next to me,
When this is only where I wanted to be,
In the simplest of times
For the most complex of minds
To meet...and feel this treat
Of gracefulness and beauty
As I hope that this morning
Does not ever wash away.
