Poems - She's Gone
| | She's Goneby wordsmithwannabe
She’s gone to find herself.
Gone, and left me alone with me,
the man that I thought I never was.
She’d found my body on the sands,
lost and lacking senses
I had forsaken years before.
I discovered them anew,
in her piercing poet’s eyes,
in the perfume of her hair,
the salty taste of her golden skin,
the wild flowers that adorned her
as though they were born there
and had never existed anywhere else.
But it is she who is everywhere but here,
left me staring at a lonely stem,
a child whispering into the ocean breeze
She loves me, she loves me…not
I stare out into the eastern blue,
throw her petals to the wind,
beg and plead and cry out loud
to every god I know
to tell her to come home.
Come back to me, my wild heart,
return to the sun-warmed sands
where we shared our first laugh.
I am waiting for you…

My favorite lines, being a wildflower lover:
In the perfume of her hair,
The salty taste of her golden skin,
The wild flowers that adorned her
As though they were born there
I also like this for the vivid image it gives my mind:
"But it is she who is everywhere but here,
Left me staring at a lonely stem,
A child whispering into the ocean breeze
She loves me, she loves me…not"
Nice one, Chris! J.
