What else do you see?

She glances at me
While at her I look
Here I want to be
For my heart she took

Not a word was said
For the longest time
Looks sufficed instead
But could she be mine?

“You there – tell me, please,
Just why do you stare?”
Courage I must seize
“Well, it's just your hair”

The arch of a brow,
A quizzical gaze
If I could allow
Seconds to last days

“It's my hair, you say?”
I don't know her tone
There must be a way
To not stay alone

“Your hair frames your face,”
I mutter in fear
She leaves her own place
And comes over here

She sits down grinning
I've got her intrigued
Perhaps I'm winning?
My words she believed

“And brings out your eyes,”
I say, rather bold
All truth and no lies
And my words are gold

“What else do you see?”
She asks with a smile
If only she'd be
Here with me a while

I say, “I see you,
Your beauty and soul”
I wish that she knew
With her I feel whole

Now her face turned pink
She started to laugh
And gave me a wink –
A wink and a half

Like I've won a prize
Under skies so fair
Gazing at her eyes
And stroking her hair
