No, the joyous sun can not be setting
where did the warmth go
a sweat bead breaks upon the my forehead
Night arrives, strangling the happiness out of the light
must get to the light switch
shadows ooze into corners and out from under furniture
darkness has arrived early today
Trembling hands, search for a light switch
panic driven spasms cause a step back and rethink
HURRY darkness is at the door
No, not before I find some light
Light switch clicks, but refuses to shed it's calming light
NOOOO,,
light. I need light
heart beating faster and faster, as fear takes control
Darkness beats me tonight, and I collapse from fear
this darkness, so deep and restricting
such a monster, holds me captive
I call this darkness, Depression

and it is a darkness that is ofen lonely and always a reality that many live with every day...been there dAVE...loved this sad but brilliant return to a recent past...*smiles*

i've been through this darkness one too many times, and you've described it well, dAVE. i like that there's a palpable frustration in the writing, a sense of urgency and utter teeth-grinding agony. it makes for a fascinating read, sad tho it may be. take care, my friend. hope all is well

Chris, I too suffer this dreaded darkness. Although I can basically keep control, I do go banana's on occasions.Thanks for the comment my friend. It is good to hear from you.dAVE

This is a 10 and a favorite for me, Dave. I love the analogy and the way you describe all the thoughts and feelings of impending descention into depression . I know someone who was depressed her entire life and not until age 50 did she find the correct anti-depressant. She became an entirely different person. Knowing her all my life, I have an inkling of what you are talking about.
You take care of yourself, Dave! You HAVE had a lot on your plate in the past year, but you'll come back into the full light soon..you are such a positive person on GP and I know that is YOU. Sweet and kind. ;0)

Ms 'J', I suffer from it but try to beat it with out drugs. Works some times others not. Being a place I've been, I found it easy yo write about. Hugs to you Julie. Down Under dAVE
