My Secret Word Life

My secret passion lies not
in using and ravishing “to be”
and her sisters. Time moves
in stranger ways for me.

Called from my lizard brain,
it comes forward when I can
resist no more, and I’m helpless
in my need for gerunds.

Shy verb handmaidens putting
on tunics of time as nouns.
Submitting to my crazed use,
alliteration after alliteration.
