Poems - Aerobotica
| | Aeroboticaby greygrynn
Watch, spin, tumble, carefree, cavorting,
slate grey warplane, twin engines
rumble-booming cold-still air.
Massive craft spins through its aerial
routine, splayed-out verticals, fixed,
off-kilter faux pentagram inlets,
every angle slant-versed,
saw-tooth, RADAR
blinding, tight.
Scramble to protect your site! But no, fly
into certain death, deaf, dumb and blind.
Never see the missiles launch or…. Four
flaming, blood orange orbs, SU-27s gone.
Continue watching the Great White rocket
a perfect vertical climb, bored flight
control computers snap drilling
each surface with oiled
cadaver precision.
Impossibly, numbly, deftly bend/break the
sacred rules of flight, tail-slide down,
mechanical pencil true.
Waggle-whap barn door sized
horizontal tails, back to level flight,
iron rod clean in a BMW powder blue sky.
Her grace and beauty on grand display this
aerobotic day, pushes past the approachable,
incongruent to both eyes and mind.
“But it can’t do….” clean-polished
WASPALOY 2000 burnished perfect.
Lands Code One – No ICAWS
soiling her UFDs today.
Code One = Aircraft is ready to fly without system problems.
UFD = Up-Front Display - Small flat screen providing aircraft system status.
WASPALOY = High-temp metal used inside jet engines.

Exciting, even though I know what I don't know, not nearly enough and especially not lately. Twin-tails, maybe an F-14 or an F-15 or one of my favorite AF jets, an A-10 thunderbolt (nawww)... No matter, I really enjoyed this fine read so entirely unique and different from the usual fare here, it actually made me want to go back to work at an AIMD... almost any AIMD anywhere, tee-hee. Take care, Mary Ann
