Poems - Clean Break

Clean Break

by fogglethorpe

The sweet acacia
is first person omniscient,
spreading her lush locks
over a park bench.

She knows the story of
the beer bottles
surrounding the trash can,
the cigarette butts
by the stone ash tray;

she remembers the water
absorbed by the pavement,
the words, the faces,
who broke whose heart;

she is privy to secrets,
bound to silence,
as the morning grounds crew
discards the evidence
and green ovals fall, like tears.
