Prodigal's Prayer

I miss you and I want you back,
you are my only source of peace;
endow me with the things I lack,
and all that I don't need, release.

Now I am lost, but once was found-
I miss you and I want you back;
I'll see you if I turn around
without retracing every track.

My life must take another tack,
these lines I've written are the start;
I miss you and I want you back-
oh search me, Lord, and know my heart!

When I assumed my life was right
the hard veneer began to crack,
exposing weakness to your light-
I miss you and I want you back.
