Poems - I Wonder

I Wonder

Late one evening I awoke
As the silence gently broke
Like a whisper in my ear
I could very faintly hear
Within the whitest background noise
A sound I swore was someone’s voice

Was my perceptive skill red-lined?
Or was it just my restless mind?

I wonder

Last weekend I was on a drive
Tuned in to ninety-one-point-five
I thought of some uncommon word
And simultaneously heard
The radio d.j. blurt it out
Now tell me, what was that about?

Perhaps I straddled some instance?
Or was it mere coincidence?

I wonder

Sometimes reality is breached
By something just beyond our reach
Sometimes reality is breached
By something just beyond our reach

So often I have been someplace
Performed an act or seen a face
Although it was completely new
I felt like it was in review
And for a moment I was sure
That I have lived my life before

While so detached by what’s mundane
Could I be thinking way too sane?

I wonder

I love the lyrics - it flows effortlessly and was a pleasure to read.
these two lines in particular are my favorite.
"Sometimes reality is breached
By something just beyond our reach"
