Poems - WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS

WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS

by Kieran

Dorothy wakes up on a farm in Wichita:
It was just a dream.
Alice wakes up in a field in Devonshire:
Only a dream.

Everyone dies in "The Departed"
As in "Hamlet."
The dad passes,
And the son survives
In the airblown ash
Of "The Road."

WARNING! CONTAINS SPOILERS:

At the end of seven seasons
Of "The Shield,"
Vic Mackey wins immunity
For his crimes
But is estranged from his family.

Eventually, this planet
Will be like our parents' house,
And we'll have to leave.

The four leads in "Seinfeld"
Are jailed by series end.
The child psychologist in
"The Sixth Sense" is actually
A ghost the whole movie
Who only the boy can see.

Someday we'll transfer
Our consciousness
Into a less fragile vessel
Than our current bodies.

WARNING! CONTAINS SPOILERS:

In "Mulholland Drive,"
Its first half
In which Betty Elms,
Ascendant actress
Newly arrived in L.A.
And soon in a love affair
With a brunette amnesiac
She's named Rita,

Proves a broken woman's fantasy
At the hinge of the film
In which a bejewelled diva
Sings a Spanish language
A capella version
Of Roy Orbison's "Crying"
In an afterhours
Theater of the Absurd
Called "Silencio."

The two main characters
In "Fight Club"
Are actually the id and superego
Of the same person.

WARNING! CONTAINS SPOILERS:

"Abbey Road" seems to end
With a grand statement
Then launches into
A forgettable ditty,
Which itself is a grand statement
About grand statements.

Nothing happens at the cessation
Of human life
But the separation
Of matter and energy,
Which are re-absorbed by the universe
But no longer meaningfully engaged:
A decaying vegetable
And a caroming spark.

The Van Trapp family
Escapes post-Anschluss Austria
Into neutral Switzerland
Where the hills may
Or may not be alive
With the sound of music.

I enjoyed the references, I couldn't help but add my own
¡spoiler alerts! throughout the reading as well. entering your rumination in the second to last stanza was a pleasant moment.
a well penned piece!

How could I not love a poem that explains both David Lynch and the Second Law of Thermodynamics, among other things? Brilliant.
