The William S. Burroughs cutup machine

Page: 1/2
(1013 total words in this text)
(10971 reads)   Printer Friendly Page

This is a cut-up machine working along similar principles to those used by Burroughs in his own work. A discussion of cut-up can be found here. Basically it works along similar principles to photo-montage, create an new image of words out of whatever was put in.

Type or copy & paste some text into the areas below and click on "Cut It Up". You can also experiment with different slice and dice values which will alter the number of pieces the texts are broken up into before being reformed. Once you have made your cutup you can copy & paste into a word processor to keep it. You can then reset the machine completely or it can keep the texts you entered for another, different cut-up.

          Select your "dice" value :
          Select your "splice" value* :
(* Only needed if using two texts)
