Decades spent on a treadmill's grind,
Miles on the track, yet progress I can't find.
Energy spent, effort so grand,
Yet, slipping down on the same old strand.
Decades on a treadmill…
Aging in circles, no progress in sight,
Chasing the ghosts of my past every night.
I push up the incline, strive for the peak,
But dreams are delusions, my footing is weak.
Decades on a treadmill…
Alas! The treadmill’s timer halts its spin,
Reality jolts me, the race to begin
Gathering the shards of a life left behind,
On the track of what's real, my true path I find.
Decades on a treadmill…
Finally, I race forward… no longer confined,
With new resolve, my journey is clear,
To the finish line… I persevere,
With eyes and strength redefined.
