The force that through the green fuse drives the flower
Drives my green age; that blasts the roots of trees
Is my destroyer.
And I am dumb to tell the crooked rose
My youth is bent by the same wintry...

Beautifully vivid language with a clear, true voice. His poems can sometimes seem opaque, but he insisted that he wrote "literally". And when you "get it", whether a line, or an entire poem, it is a real treat. His insight is penetrating.
