The poem is included as a small portion of a book I wrote. My publisher recommended "peak" instead of "peek." Everything written has visual aspects. "Peak" looks better than "peek," which lends itself to "peekyboo." The unimportant "peak" also draws attention to the important "weak." And yes, "weevil" does rhyme with "evil," but "weevil" draws attention to the important word "evil." If you understand the meaning of the poem, you understand that neither of the two allegorical trees can be infested with literal weevils, which is also important. But your two points are well taken. There is always room for improvement. And your two points illustrate the poem's two weaknesses.
