Wants and Wishes

What do you want?
Money? material?
“No” said the voice
Love?Lust?
“Worth as much as dust”
Food? Water?
Life? Death?
God? Devil?
Tell me, I pray thee
What do you seek?

“I wish i knew,
Knew that everything i had,
Everything i wanted,
Everything i loved as well as hated…
I wish i knew it wouldn’t last.
Laughter, tears, cries and cackles,
All seemed too good to be true,
But also too real to be false

I wish it made sense,
The goal i chased,
The girl i loved
The secrets I kept,
The truths i never told.
Was it all just a fantasy?
Just an hallucination?

I was searching for the answer,
When the question was still unknown.
I was running towards the finish,
Without realizing the race never started.
I was searching for diamonds,
When even gold wasn’t discovered.

So to answer your question…
I want another chance.
Another life,
Where i enjoyed the moment for what it was,
Rather than crying for what it could’ve been”

Said the voice,
Coming from nowhere and everywhere.
I looked for the speaker,
In the hall, hither and thither,
But never saw him, until…
I looked in the mirror

About this poem

It's a poem I wrote in bed, while crying. A way to express my regrets and wishes. Sometimes, everything seems pointless. This poems is a journey through your own past and life.
