Jose

Oh wow ! Its a Honda!
You told me that when I first got my car, although it was a beat up 2001 car.
The beauty you saw in everything even though half of the time you were drunk.
When I told you my dream university you told me “oh you’re going to be an anteater” referring to UCI.
Oh how I wish you were here so I can run to you and tell you that I got into UCSD, not UCI.
You always carried yourself in a way I admired you, you constantly made friends anywhere you looked for jobs anywhere to try to provide for yourself and for your family.
To others you were just wicho the man who would just drink any time of day, but to me you were the one who stepped in when my dad left, you were the one who would always tell me about your life, you were the one who stood up for me when my mom was being rude to me.
I will forever cherish our time spent before you got called into heavens waiting room, when I see you again I hope you still remember the day when you told me.
Oh wow its a Honda!

About this poem

I wrote this elegy during the time my uncle left this earth. His words meant so much but a sentence he said is forever seared in my mind. With so much love.
