Stand

As tears fall all around
I sit frightened and small on the ground
I feel I may very soon drown

I search for room on the gallow
Only to see I am in your shadow

You tell me to stand I obey
For you to only say
The water is not yet deep take my hand
You will find I am a friend

As I take refuge in your embrace
And I look up into your shadowy face
My eyes are swollen to just slits
I see a smile upon your lips

You hold me tight to your chest
I listen to your heart and take a breath
And know that I have just one more fight left.
