Broken Healing

I'm broken, you see? I say to myself.
There's a child in the mirror who just needed help.
I cry and I fight but I can't look behind me
Because I'm afraid I won't be as far as I feel I've come
And progress doesn't always suggest that we've won
It's still a struggle, I'm broken you see?
The war is inside while I'm fighting to fix me
I press on, I try, is that enough?
It's healing I need, this life is so rough.
A soft touch, a kind word, that's healing to me
But it's never the fix I once used to need
Nothing is instant and life is constant
This race never ends
Every day I start again, fighting new wars, while nothing defends
The whacks I take are more painful these days
But the world I see now is one I find worth fighting for
I don't wanna be numb
I wanna feel the pain
Sometimes I'm confused and I just lay in the rain
Press on they say time heals all wounds
But it's the inner handy work we don't discuss that really counts
To survive and thrive we must want to be alive
So fight, even when you're broken, who cares
Warriors and scars are sexy and protect against flares
This world is worth seeing, go on, press on
It's you, who still cares.
