We Know When We Die

We can't say how long we'll live
but we know when we die.
It's when we give up all hope
and then no longer try.

The number of years we have
won't justify our prime.
It's what we place in the days
that matters over time.

Orbicular wandering
doesn't mean we're alive.
It's plans and dreams and purpose
that stimulate to thrive.

Existence isn't living
and breathing isn't life.
It's meaningful endeavor
that provides joy full rife.

No one knows how far the flight
or when our plane will land.
Enjoyment is the soaring
despite the journeys planned.
