Analysis of Dragon world

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

On far distant worlds
Primal forces stir again,
Ancient battles fought.

Good versus evil
In a war on distant worlds,
Chivalry observed.

Winged, harnessed dragons
Ridden into battle by,
Knights in shining mail.

White knights ride dragons
Black knights riding basilisks,
Wing toward battle.

Battle swords are drawn
Maces swung toward a foe,
Dragons breathing fire.

Dragon fire whooshing
Toward the evil black knights,
Battle underway.

Evil eyes glaring
White knights falling to their deaths,
As basilisks leer.

Dragon fire blasting
Out toward the basilisks,
Flying down at them.

Basilisks leering
At giant, winged saurians,
Unable to fell them.

Men and beasts fighting
On an ancient battlefield,
No victory soon.

Evil versus good
Battling many centuries,
With no end in sight.
