Analysis of Inherited Ignorance
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Breaking away,
From what is accepted.
Yet not known on one's own,
To personally experience...
An awakening to realize,
A zone limited to condone...
Becomes an inherited ignorance.
Shown and defended.
Although kept restricted,
Is a broadened view of reality.
A reality purposely meant to avoid.
And...
Truth to continue to avoid it meant,
With a feeding to deceive...
Innocent minds to victimize easily.
Achieves nothing for the ones,
Who depend upon ignorance.
An ignorance to have inherited.
With a seeking of wisdom to receive,
From the elders that are respected.
More for aging than acquiring,
Mental achievements that required...
Taking risks and chances.
With a hope this enhances,
A better quality of life...
For the younger generations.
Growing to accept and know,
Learning to adventure and explore...
Life beyond a mind restricted to limits,
Will always give one the ability...
Not to fear or feel threatened,
By curiosity.
Or wanting to know more about life.
Than many pretentious claim to do!
'Where are you going, now?'
'I was told something,
To accept and believe.
But that's not good enough for me.
Ain't nobody gonna lie to me,
Making me appear the fool!'
'I see.
So...
You want it known,
Your gossip to spread is reliable.
And not that 'hand-me-down',
Rumored around...
The neighborhood kind of stuff!'
'Exactly.
My stuff is fresh.
None of that inherited nonsense.
Leaving nobody to know,
Who made it up.
When, where or why!
