Analysis of So, What Is It That You Do

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

The more I have grown older.
Blessed to age.
To experience and experiment,
Life to explore.
In different ways to adventure unafraid,
Various stages to satisfy my curiosity.
I have begun to notice,
My interests has remained...
The same as it has ever been.
As if my growing older,
Keeps me asking others...
About their business.
With attempts to do this appropriately.
Without giving a hint or clue,
I already know what they do.
Before they open their mouths.
And...
That is the most enjoyable thing I love,
As I age.
There are not too many these days,
Taking an interest in others like that!

'Hello.
And how are you today?'

'I'm fine.
How about yourself?'

'Okay. I'm feeling well, thank you.
So...
Tell me,
What is it that you do?'

'Mind my own business.
And don't ask strangers questions.
Especially personal ones.

'OH!
Oh, you know...
I do the same thing.
Have a good day!
