Analysis of Treated Like A Dog
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Once a dog has tasted meat.
As a treat to eat?
It will nolonger matter,
How many bones are thrown.
To expect that dog,
Feeling obligated to retrieve.
Since it is in the teasing of a treat,
That keeps the dog...
Feeling obligated to believe,
What is done to do and before to prove...
A deserving of a treat,
They will get to receive.
To anyone disbelieving,
A devoted loyalty shown to them...
Never ends.
Remove the treating of the meat.
To believe it was the teasing,
Of a bone thrown.
Expecting it to be fetched.
And brought back retrieved.
Too many believe,
Their power to obtain it...
Is in the teasing of treats.
That keeps a loyalty shown,
Kept to them devoted.
No!
It is the meat to get.
And the reality of it's taste.
'Hey, buddy?
How's it going?
I heard about your new job.
I thought you were happy,
With that job you had?
You told me that!'
'I did and I was.
Until I discovered others were doing less.
To get paid more.
So...
I tried to tell my boss about it.'
'His back was turned.
Then I was ignored.'
'That same thing happened to me!'
'What did you do?'
'Got another job.
A better offer.
With a higher hourly wage.
And a raise!'
'I heard that.
And this is how I feel about it all...
If I'm going to be treated like a dog?
And expected to 'fetch' or catch,
Whatever is thrown to me.
Then retrieve to express,
My loyalty and devotion to a job.
I'm either going to be paid,
What I deserve or I will leave.'
'Geessshhh.
And,
When you said that to your boss,
What then did he say?'
'I could care less.
I have to feed myself.
Pay bills.
Put gas in a car many years old.
Buy my shoes, socks...
And clothes I wear too.
Plus my hygiene?
None of that is given,
To a devoted loyalty I may show.
And this message?
I personally to his ears delievered.'
'I hope you weren't barking?'
'No.
But I did wipe the drool,
Coming out of my mouth!
I realized all that loyal devotion talk,
Had me at home.
Unable to buy a slice of pizza!
