Analysis of Oh, Boy!

Surprised?
And overwhelmed with joy?
Faith kept does that.

Are you that one who notices,
Whenever you are feeling...
At your lowest and under,
The bottom of the pits.
Doesn't it seem God arrives,
Coming to lift you up and beyond...
Limits you rush to place,
On your own expectations?
To believe this is a humble and acceptable,
Grown up point of view to set..
As an example.
For the next younger,
And observant generation.

'Over there.
You see that old man,
Laughing and crying at the same time?
Either he just won the lottery.
Or got word he was again,
Going to be a grandfather.
And he is thrilled about it too!
Let's  go to congratulate him.'

'No. I don't think we should do that.
But I do see him.
So happy he is that's for sure.
My grandfather does that too!'

'He does?
When and why?'

'Whenever we pay him a surprise visit?
He begins to cry like a baby.
And then,
Whenever we tell him,
We will soon be leaving.
He repeatedly will ask,
What day and time that will be.
As if he wants us to prolong our stay.
And when that day comes,
He actually laughs as if a kid...
On Christmas Day.
And when he waves at us.
As he closes his front door?
We hear him shout,
THANK YOU GOD!'
And we all begin to feel so sad.
Leaving him alone like that.'

'You know,
My grandmother does the exact same thing.
But when we call her to say,
We are coming to pay her a family visit.
She cries.
Then slowly hangs up the phone.
Leaving us to guess,
Just how happy she is.
She's like that.
And I also remembered this one time,
When we caught her about to get in a cab...
With five pieces of luggage.
After we told her,
We were about an hour away...
From her driveway.
Saying she was on her way,
To take a vacation.
And had forgot we were coming.
That was hysterical.'

'I don't want to grow to be that old.'

'To me?
It seems,
What both of our grandparents...
Are experienced in doing?
Is sending mixed messages.'

'I don't think so.
I remembered this one other time,
I called my grandmother...
To say we were coming to visit?
She said,
Oh, boy! Already?
Weren't you all just here five years ago.
Then we laughed.
I had to pull over off the highway and pee.
Knowing at her elderly age,
Time moves quick and fast.'

'You laughed?
Why?'

'You have to meet my grandmother.
To understand her sense of humor!
It took me awhile, myself.
To separate her actions to really know,
What she actually means.'
