Analysis of LULLABY
Dr. Idowu James ADEKUNLE 1976 (Lagos)
My mother in the hut rushes to the shed we laid
To hear my humble cry
Hi! Ha! Rocks me to bed.
Tells me the tales of our great ancestors
And the great harvest of time
Hi! Ha! Rocks me to bed.
She sings me the song
Of jubilee praise
Hi! Ha! Rocks me to bed.
She teaches the way and path
I should go in life
Hi! Ha! Rocks me to bed.
She feeds me with food
When hunger swerves in
Hi! Ha! Rocks me to bed.
She backs me
While working on the farm
Hi! Ha! Rocks me to bed.
When my feeble strength is gone
She gives me the herbs I need for healing
Hi! Ha! Rocks me to bed.
She watches over me and puts me through
When my plays go astray
Hi! Ha! Rocks me to bed.
