Analysis of The Know Nots

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Opened more than closed.
Are the mouths of the know nots.
Although great hosts.
For those loving,
Light and meaningless...
Empty intimate chats.
As hosts of these affairs,
Offer nothing but to enjoy...
Friendly gossip going nowhere at all.

The know nots hopscotch over,
A dishing up dirt to pour their tea.
Especially in the company,
Of couples gathering...
To do their weekend,
Secret couple swinging thing.

The know nots care not,
To discuss or introduce...
Who is better at what to do to please.
Or involve themselves,
In conflicts of race, division...
And what a normalcy meant,
Before those crazed erased that away.

The know nots together,
Know less to know for them it is best.
For them to leave,
Those who believe they know so much...
Left to explain,
If they are so wise and intelligent...
Why are they the ones always heard,
Accusing those who know nothing...
For creating a mess,
Those so smart and wise with wisdom...
Seem incapable to use their minds to fix!

This can not be blamed on the know nots.
And the know nots know this!

The know nots know not,
To pretend a knowing...
Of a doing to excuse a nothing done!
The know nots are about their business.
To know what it is they do.
Without denial or excuses heard to make.

The know nots?
Knoweth what they doeth,
Done!
Loving to enjoy,
Being distant and away...
From the ones who are wise,
And intelligent mess makers!

The know nots prefer not this life to live.
Screwing up what they can't fix,
To know it proven others do that better!
