Analysis of Trying to ask

Donald Carey 1980 (Montana)

Overcoming nerves,
Speaking from heart.
Situation serves,
A fresh new start.

Awkward conversation,
Leads to possibilities,
Hopeful consternation,
Rife with insecurities.

Speak beyond Hello,
Words fail to come.
Feigning calm and mellow,
Looking rather dumb.

Can barely speak,
Just one question.
Utterance won't leak,
Nervousness a bastion.

Just want to ask,
About a cup of coffee.
Up to the task,
With me.
