Analysis of Poor Baby
Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)
The fig tree ripens; gives its fruit
The grapevine gives its fragrance
The precious treasure now is loot
That she can give to vagrants
They take the treasure; eat the fruit
And then they burn the tree
Because the fruit had lost its flavor!
And now she’s leaving me?
