Analysis of Acknowledgement Achieved

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Why should anyone feel obligated to give,
What they have earned to share.
When conscious and aware of it,
Alone they accomplished.
With a knowing no one volunteered,
In the sharing of their blood, sweat and tears.
Neither to appear anywhere near to witness.
Or come close to hear,
Encouragement whispered to have heard it.

And yet people like this,
Expect credit mentioned to them given.
For wishes they had expressed.
To others perhaps assumed addressed.
Until after and not before,
Unexpected success arrives.
To have been achieved by the one,
Who has endured through efforts...
And their sacrificial endeavors made.
With a rewarding them to receive,
An acknowledement that leaves their deeds...
Even surprising the one,
Disbelieving the attention to them given.

'I am stunned and surprised,
By your comments.
How can you say,
You are in disbelief...
As to what your efforts to endeavor,
Has returned to 'us' to receive!'

'I...uh...what?
Us? Us who?'

'For the many years I have known you.
And observed from a distance,
The living hell you were going through.
My heart would ache,
With tremendous empathy.
Since I have been there for you.
Only with my best wishes.
And unrelenting encouragement.'

'And where had I been to be unaware of it?'

'Who knows.
I was only told recently how to contact you.
So glad I am,
My encouragement stayed...
As a testament of my faith I had in you.'

'God works in the most mysterious of ways!'

'So right you are.
God too had something to do with it.
Just think...
If it had not been for God and my prayers.
Your efforts endeavored to succeed...
I would not have known a thing about it!
So blessed we both are,
To have finally acknowledged...
And recognized this together!'

'Where have you been all these years?
You just moved back into town?'

'Well...
No.
I've been around.
But you know how life can be.
There is always one thing after another.
Leaving one's good intentions,
Left to go unknown.
Thank God for the strength I found,
To find and discover your success.'
