Analysis of Rear View
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
As we dare to look back,
In a speeding moving fast ahead traffic.
Few seem to smile wide, grin or laugh.
With thoughts to have then,
Now to believe it seen clearly...
Those once judged and depicted,
As nonconforming mavericks.
Are the ones today perceived,
To be anti-social.
Attempting to replace,
A democracy to erase.
But instead,
Wanting with wishes to make...
The United States,
A place we all would embrace...
To recognize,
Greatness to keep it...
Can not last to stay,
Without the participation of all...
Diversified ethnic faces.
Representing the human race.
Although there are those,
With both eyes and minds closed.
Proposing an existence,
Of an alternate Universe to have envisioned.
And as we all claim to call ourselves,
United as patriots.
On an Earth multi-diversed.
Sharing our different cultures.
Along with the uniqueness America is.
Still there are many refusing to accept,
A greatness to achieve...
Does not just happen,
With a few to do all by themselves.
Or declare one race to be better than others.
Done from a high,
And isolated mind drugged perch.
While looking back at everyone else,
Hoping no one discovers...
That in that rear view,
Speeding away from an image to delude.
Clearer becomes a truth,
Of an America to see the reality.
One that has an ethnicity.
Colored and not disguised to hide.
Than the many power thirsty,
Depend upon but unable to admit.
Yet...
Continuing is,
The absence of selling the truth telling...
Told of a greatness.
And how it came to exist.
So difficult it is to insist,
This greatest to have...
Has only one image of it!
Be you...
White, Black, Brown with hints,
Of a mixed heritage.
Whatever is viewed,
In the rear to look back at it.
No one can say they are fast moving away,
From the ever changing faces of humanity!
