Analysis of Alive with Christ
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
See that no one takes you captive,
By philosophy or deceit;
Rather look to remain active,
And be spiritually elite.
Remain in accordance with Christ,
With the fullness of deity;
Dwell in the One who sacrificed,
Life as He kept His purity.
You are filled in Him as complete,
Who rules with the authority;
In Heaven has taken His seat,
To purge out your iniquity.
In Him, you were then circumcised,
Circumcision made without hands;
The same as Christ was sacrificed,
That the sins of the flesh demands.
In baptism with Him buried,
In which you had been also raised;
Through your faith no longer worried,
For whom you have worshipped and praised.
For you were dead in your trespass,
Of your flesh uncircumcision;
And dying like withering grass,
Never having heavenly vision.
Canceling the record of debt,
Standing against legal demands;
By confessing what you regret,
Nails them to the cross with your hands.
He stripped those in authority,
And have put them in open shame;
By them losing their dignity,
Preaching the Word that we proclaim.
