Analysis of Seasons Most Enjoy

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

There are all seasons most enjoy.
Done to experience it witnessed,
The growth of their children.
From one step to another.
Upon the stage of life.
With hope and much prayer.
To see them eventually,
Learn the lessons they need...
That propels them further.
After graduating from their high schools.
As they choose to go on to college.
Knowing this takes,
Passing tests and obeying...
All necessary rules.
Independently.

So many parents weep openly to see,
Their children actually...
Become the adults they wanted them to be.
Ambitious.
Disciplined and motivated.
With choices made.
On their chosen paths to take.
Each season.
Anticipating.
What title will they be given.
From so many to suddenly pick one.

'Mom? Dad?
I am going to be an 'Astrophysicist.
With an emphasis on mathematics.
And the effects solar winds has on The Milky Way.'

'I am there with you, honey.
Now...
Before we both start tripping.
Clean up your room.
And the hangers are used,
To put clothes on them.
Not the floor!'

And throughout their developing years.
So proud we all remain to share.
In the knowing our future,
Is in the hands of our children.
Preparing and caring.
About a quality of life,
That is theirs to make even better!

However...
No matter how bright,
Gifted, talented and brilliant...
Today's children are observed to see.
Many and not all,
Acquire ambition, discipline.
Or incentive to apply,
What technology has made too easy.
Like...
Listening to pay attention.
Some don't.
Or opening a book to read.
Some won't.
From beginning to its end.
Has technology made them that lazy?
And excuses to make?
Leaving today's children,
Inspired in the seeking...
To innovate and create,
Amazing deceiving skills.
That addicts and attracts,
The admiration of their parents...
To each and every move they fake?
As if in the doing,
The more they seem to encourage.
With a mindlessness to appreciate.
What has become,
Of defending the use of common sense.
A common sense gone from us once done.

There are all seasons,
Most look forward to enjoy.
Especially when that time finally arrives,
When sitting to witness...
Our young people now no longer children.
Walk across a stage.
Either to accept a diploma.
Or a college degree.
To know they have obeyed,
All appropriate rules...legally.
That proves they have achieved...
Something to identify,
A seriousness about their lives...
Has before our eyes been accomplished.
Visualized to have arrived.
And...
With unflinching focus.
As tears are wiped away...
From an undeniable revealing pride.

'That's my baby. That's MY CHILD!'

And yet..
There are still some children.
Who take their lives to live as a joke.
All over the place they appear to be,
Performing hilarious acts of stupidity.
Leaving parents.
School counselors.
Ministers and social workers.
Doing their best to answer questions why?
Why some children...
Study long and hard to pass tests.
While others look forward,
To the season they like best.
And that is flu season.
Yes.
Rehearsing their sick routines.
Before their 'mid and final' exams.
Knowing they had no chance to pass anyway.

And the marketing of cold remedies?
Aimed directly at children.
Day in until night falls.
Introducing to them when,
The season of illness starts to begin.
Marketed to advertise.
To impressive children caring less,
About graduating from school.
Or the rest of the B.S.
They learn at home.
From their own parents!
Often too unaware,
Who becomes more affected...
By their display of bringing inside,
A stress from outside their homes to reside.

All of it is a programming scheme.
And the dollar is King of the Empire.

'I see.
So...
Can you say when was the last time,
You encouraged your children...
To discuss 'their' futures with you?'

'Uh...excuse me?
Discuss?
What?
A rest that is needed.
To give that thought up?
We are the maids and also the butlers.
Why are you asking us that question?
We do enough for them as it is.
Ain't nobody got time to discuss,
What these kids know what they should do.
And...
When flu season comes.
As it does every year.
What do you expect us to do?
Listen to them moan and groan.
Our arms look like pin cushions as it is.
From becoming vaccinated...
To keep from getting yet another disease,
That takes us months to pronounce.
Before another one is found to appear.

That's why we have bought them cellphones.
Wide screen TVs.
And friends they can invite over.
To take that nonsense to their own,
Bedrooms.
Or to the basement
Where we spent a fortune to renovate.'

'And you blame the teachers and the school,
For your lack of concern.
And your children's inability,
To listen and learn.
While you advocate and promote,
Their criminal activity?'

'Whoa...
Oh no. Back up.
Criminal activity?
I am about 3mins from revealing,
The other side of my pleasant personality.
Who and what do you think we are?
FLU SEASON PUSHERS?
CRACK ADDICTS AND DOPE FIENDS?
We are CHRISTIANS!
AND...upstanding citizens,
In THIS community.
And if our 'kids' are not graduating,
From schools we work and pay taxes...
To ensure they are exposed to at least,
Receive a decent education?
Who do you think,
Should be blamed...
For this continous ongoing problem?
And our aggravation.
Let's discuss my disgust!'

'No one here,
Is openly qualified to pass judgement.
Or deliberately as reluctant jury members,
Often do to jump to conclusions.
Inspite of the overwhelming,
Evidence produced.
We are hoping to find a solution.
To a problem not ours to have created.
No one here is assigned,
To personally judge...
What goes on in your stressed out mind.
I apologize.
That was not a necessary comment.
No was the hint,
Subtle at all.
This I admit.'

'Oh.
So you are one of...those!'

'What do you mean...one of those?'

'Those; them.
Serial season theory people.
You know...
Prepared to accuse us of discrimination!
And having no time to express empathy.
We work to provide shelter and amenities.
For children who donate,
Ungrateful attitudes and demands to please.'

'This has nothing to do with your beliefs.
Although...
It has everything to do,
With your approach to parenting.
And your understanding of what it takes,
To prioritize...
The future of your children's lives.
Don't start trying to ruffle my feathers.
I graduated from one ghetto project,
To love living in another.
Whether to like or not.
And I know what it takes to survive,
Under the most dire of circumstances.
Trust me.
Your shoes I don't want or wish to fill.'

'Oh?
So what is this suppose to be,
Reverse psychology?'

'That season has yet to come to be enjoyed!
Even on vacation,
I can't get away from being annoyed.'

'Vacation?
From what and who to go where?
To forget kids are everywhere.
As if paid bounty hunters seeking prey!'
