Analysis of Come to the LORD
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Seek the Lord while may be found,
Call on Him while He is near;
Listen closely upon His sound,
For honoring as you revere.
Let the wicked forsake their way,
And the unrighteous men their thought;
Their compassion making them stray,
For not doing as to they ought.
The Lord will abundantly pardon,
But our thoughts not how He thinks;
As our hearts have been harden,
From strong liquor that one drinks.
Neither our ways as His way,
Since Heaven is higher than earth;
As we constantly disobey,
Since the time we were given birth.
For as the rain and snow come down,
To nourish and water the land;
Vegetation acts like a gown,
The seeds sprouting at His command.
So shall that His mouth speaks the Word,
Not to be empty in return;
All creation it shall be heard,
As the faithful assured to learn.
And then you shall go out in joy,
Being led forth by hope and peace;
So allow joyful songs deploy,
As the praising will never cease.
Instead of thorns shall come the cypress,
Instead of brier, myrtle trees;
Everlasting sign to profess,
As the praises flow with the breeze.
