Analysis of Do You Know Them

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Do you know them.
Or had known them.
And the experience of it,
Seems to be...
An unforgettable experience.
Either way,
The memory of them stays.

Do you know them.
The ones who can not accept others.
For who those others are to be.
Are the very ones,
Who can not accept themselves.
Or feel secure,
In their own ethnic identities.

Do you know them.
Or had known them.
The ones who believe they see,
Themselves perfect from head to toe.
With possessions to value.
As if attention to them is owed.
And always heard to mention,
Without it solicited.
For opinions given to belittle and judge,
What someone else does.
Done to do as if they themselves,
Are above reproach.
And beneath spending time to find,
Improvement.
Lots of it.

Do you know them.
Or had known them.
The they of those with their noses up.
That should be lowered.
To sniff what comes out of their own butts.
And much too often not to notice it.
