Analysis of If I Had A Pen
If I had a Pen.
If I had a pen like Martin Luther had a dream, I'd write on every heart, the language of love. What it is, so complex! What it's not, easy to tell! The bodies on the street! Missing people yet to see! Talking about me like the worst thing that happened to humani-tee.
Love! Isn't the prescription that cures all pain. But if given can hinder one from being slain!
What do you gain from seeing my blood on the street and my loss to grieve?
What do you see when you look at me? Is it a piece of meat to be sliced like cheese? So is love complex or just the least...ex---pressed?
Love! Isn't the prescription that cures all our pain, but without it, death! will surely gain!

About this poem
This poem has been inspired by the number of tragic events taking place around. An act of violence can only be carried out with the absence of love for humanity. To see the cry and grief of people affected by violence, moved the author enough to wish she had the tool to fix things.
