Analysis of Purification
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
When You appear before me,
About this trampling of my court;
No vain offerings I could see,
Abominations to report.
The calling of convocation,
Not to endure iniquity;
For the Sabbath moon location,
To have a solemn assembly.
Your new moon and appointed feast,
They have become burdens to me;
I am weary to bear at least,
In preparation that must be.
When You are spreading out Your hand,
I will then hide my eyes from you;
For many prayers on Your command,
I will listen to what is true.
For my hands are full of the blood,
I will wash and make myself clean;
Evil deeds that drown in the flood,
No longer shall ever be seen.
I learn to do good for justice,
Correct oppression to the plea;
And making myself more righteous,
For all of the others to see.
Come now to reason together,
Through your sins that are scarlet red,
Make them white as snow to gather,
For confession will make them dead.
If willing and obedient,
You shall eat the good of the land;
The Lord will be expedient,
By fulfilling of His command.
But if you refuse and rebel,
You shall be eaten by the sword;
Your body is cast into hell,
As this is spoken by the Lord.
