Analysis of Loose Skin
I hear the way they speak to you, and hear
Your cries for help. I hear the lonely lost
Young girl who's trapped beneath your skin, loose skin.
You lose the weight but keep that voice that traps
Your cycle of eat, purge, relapse, repeat.
You lose the weight but keep the skin, loose skin,
From being weak. Your body tears itself
Apart as vomit trickles down your chin.
You’re thin, you swear, and pray to god that they
Can’t catch your lie, can’t see the skin, loose skin;
The rolls of fat that holds you back from life;
A happy life, a normal life, without
Your cycle of eat, purge, relapse, repeat.
You lose your life, but keep that damned loose skin.

About this poem
I wrote this poem about my lover, who suffers from an eating disorder. Though many of the feelings portrayed are of my own, having suffered through similar issues throughout my life.
