Analysis of What Christmas is Like

                                Place I know

By: DeLoris Bush-Claiborne
September 1970

I know a place where the blue waves break,
And fall softly on the silver sand,
And the glorious sun rays shine down on,
          Level-pressed land.

The waves come in and go out again,
But they are always there with you,
While sitting quietly by the ocean bank,
          With nothing else to do.

I know a place where blue waves break,
Tumble and roll to your feet,
You can even picture it in your mind,
          That great big beautiful beach.

Stretching out over the horizon,
          Beyond the clear blue sky,
I know a place that can be shared,
With people like you and I.

Maybe you can come with me,
           or maybe you can not,
But that is left up to you,
           but the place I know,
           Is the place I go,
when I’ve nothing else to do.
