Analysis of Always Is Not Always
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Always is not always done.
Always to expect it to come.
Sometimes the days bring Sun.
And sometimes there is none to see.
Around to feel the warmth from its heat.
Yet faith to keep kept,
Should stay as is in laughter or tears.
Wept to dry and this to know,
That which goes up has to come down.
Few faces seen smiling,
Are not without experiencing frowns.
Unless...
Awakening shocked in complete disbelief,
Discovering their feet blessed to use.
Have begun to feel as if cemented in concrete.
Slow to move.
As they shuffle along crowded city streets.
Seeking someone; anyone will notice,
An empathy from them is in need.
To the one once to have known to smile.
Exposing sparkling to glisten teeth.
Attempting to do the best they can,
Or even much better than others observed...
Over-rehearsed to dramatize,
Something unexpected...
Recently affecting their routine to live life.
Although...
Not at night after the Sun has set.
But in the brightest light of day.
Hoping empathy to get comes their way.
'Uh...
Didn't I see you the other day?
Skipping along the streets.
As if you had no concerns at all.
What happened?'
'Well...
I am almost embarrassed,
To admit and say anything.
Bit I have an ingrown toenail that's killing me!'
'A what?
A toenail?
You are walking as if,
You were just hit by a car.'
'I have never experienced to endure,
This kind of suffering and anguish in my life.'
'You should be at home.
Taking care of that foot.'
'Then...
Who would know,
The suffering and pain I feel?
My anguish is unbearable.'
'I'm doing the best I can,
To keep my troubling misery to myself.'
'And in such an heroic way too!'
'I know.
Sss...ooo...
I thank you for acknowledging my bravery!'
'I can not believe this.'
'You?
How do you think I feel?
And I parked my car four blocks away.
Then manage to walk here,
Alone.
All by myself.
There was no space closer I could find.'
