Analysis of Wolf Crier
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
To cry wolf repeatedly.
Done just to see,
Who will respond...
With a rushing to a scene.
Prepared to assist,
One with an appetite to deceive like this.
Has yet been taught,
Valuable lessons to learn.
And dishonesty used to trick and fool,
More than once to try it twice.
Seldom comes when the time is needed.
In an attempt to save another,
Desperately awaiting with a wish...
The fun of ignorance to celebrate it,
Had been a mutual understanding...
As to what and who,
Not to take for granted.
When proof of truth and evidence arrives.
Unexpectedly to threaten,
A truth...
One is accustomed to delude and fiction.
And a reality to face,
Caring less who refuses to accept or erase.
By a mind that has been replaced,
To function on denial and the absence...
Of common sense to know,
Stupidity, ignorance and clownish tactics...
Are not often attractive to find beneficial,
For attention to give to expect disrespect.
Done and accompanied by,
A repetition of the same disappointing results!
Why bother to pretend what is heard to hear,
Is worth the time to know it wasted...
On being curious enough to discover,
A wolf being disturbed...
While munching to devour on one less fool,
To ignore cries for help for once not to hear...
Repeatedly to wonder,
If they are or not credible to validate action.
'Did you hear what happened to so and so.'
No.
Do tell.
'Well...
You didn't hear this from me, but...
I heard he was dressed to pretend,
To be a wolf bare and naked in the woods.
Screaming, Wolf! Wolf!
And undercover police arrested him,
For indecent exposure and inappropriately...
Discovered to then to them confess,
He was on his way...
To his grandmother's house.
Near the red-light district.
Making growling sounds like a hound dog.
Since to howl as if a wolf,
Began to irritate his throat.'
Something told me hours ago to stay home.
I remember when insanity,
Wasn't accepted as a fad.
And here we are.
Today...
This madness?
It has become a fashion statement.
Reliable to entertain the seriousness,
Of this illness.
'I think it's fun.
This freedom of speech thing.
It's getting more debatable,
As to how it is used to claim...
To be or not to be one's entitlement.'
That depends.
On which part of one's body,
Is doing most of the talking.
When, where and how done.
