Analysis of Myself

Valiantstar 1961 (Sydney)

I realise now I was never myself.
Following the crowd left me bereft.

To self-conscious to show my hand,
Deigning myself, a cowardly sham.

Like a square peg in a round hole,
Trying to fit was selling my soul.

Leaving me broken, I reaped what I sowed.
The pit was deepening, no where to go.

But that was then and this is now.
This is me,
Now I bow.
