Analysis of For The Artist
Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)
We pour our hearts
Onto canvas,
Or into words
That we write,
Hoping someone
Will see the beauty,
And validate
Our endless soaring.
But sometimes
The world is unkind,
And our art
Is left unheard,
Leaving us
Feeling lost
And broken,
Yearning
For just one word.
We soldier on
Through the struggle
And continue
To create
For the love
Of our craft
And the hope
It generates.
Being an artist
Isn't easy.
But it's what we
Were born to do.
And with each stroke
Of our brush,
Or pen
Our true selves
Shine through
Like the sun
On a cloudy day.
