Analysis of Kaleidoscope

Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)

She marvels
At the intricate
Patterns and shapes
That dance
In her view,
Twisting
And weaving
Into something
Almost magical.
As she blinks again,
The colors shift
And change,
Creating a new scene
From the one before it.
Each scene
Is unique,
Unlike any other
She's ever encountered.
And in that moment,
She realizes
That her eyes
Are a window
To a world
Of unending beauty
And wonder.
With each blink,
She is transported
To a new place,
Where the colors
And shapes
Are fluid,
Ever-changing.
For her,
No view
Is ever the same,
And she finds
A certain comfort
In the fact
That the world
Is always in motion,
Always creating
Something new
And exciting.
In her dreamlike state,
She feels
Like a part
Of the kaleidoscope herself,
Adding her own colors
And patterns
To the mix.

Joe Strickland

I'm just a regular, blue collar, working stiff who took an interest in writing poetry many years ago but until recently I haven't had a desire to share any with anyone or pursue publication. I'm an unpublished fork lift operator by night, and a day drinker by choice. I can be followed on Twitter @JoeStricklandSC more…
