Analysis of Celebration Of Kinship

Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)

Step over ants,
Their tiny bodies curved
Like crescent moons on the sidewalk.
Underneath your feet,
The world hums,
Each step a staccato
In their minuscule symphony.

Put worms back in the grass,
They are architects of the soil.
They tunnel through earth,
Weaving intricate tapestries,
Nurturing life unseen.
In their wiggling dance,
Lies the pulse of rejuvenation.

Rescue baby caterpillars,
Fragile threads of potential,
Tiny vessels of transformation.
In their delicate skins,
They carry whispers of wings,
Promises of flight.
Their journey has just begun,
And who are we to deny them
A chance to soar?

Release spiders back into your garden,
They are spinners of destiny.
Their silken webs are bridges
Between predator and prey,
A delicate balance of survival.
In the shadows they weave
Their intricate tapestries,
Their existence a masterclass
In patience and precision.

Open windows for bees to fly home,
They are poets of pollination.
Drunk on nectar,
They dance upon petals,
Imprinting life's secrets
Into honey's luminescent gold.
Their buzzing chorus,
An anthem to the interconnectedness
Of all living things.

They are all little souls that
Deserve a life too.
In the grand tapestry of existence,
Even the smallest stitches matter.
What is life,
If not a celebration of kinship,
An ode to the simple organic dance
Unfolding around us?

Joe Strickland

I'm just a regular, blue collar, working stiff who took an interest in writing poetry many years ago but until recently I haven't had a desire to share any with anyone or pursue publication. I'm an unpublished fork lift operator by night, and a day drinker by choice. I can be followed on Twitter @JoeStricklandSC more…
