Analysis of Strut It Up
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Strut it up.
Your stuff.
Downtown.
Where the people go.
To flaunt their dignity found.
Strut it up.
And keep on strutting.
Strut it up.
Your stuff.
Downtown.
Where the people go.
Of all colors and mixed races.
Diversity is what it's meant to be.
Displayed in many places openly to see.
Be you Black or White.
Asian or Latino.
Native born Indian.
America is home.
And nobody here,
Roams this land to be alone.
This nation is not all Caucasian.
No matter where one goes.
This nation is not all Caucasian.
Although the bigots want this shown.
Too ethnic is this place we call America.
Strut your stuff up and down.
All around to be found.
This is America.
United and in sight to see.
Unique.
In its diversity.
Keep on strutting.
Be you Black or White.
Keep up your strutting.
Be you Asian.
Keep up your strutting.
Be you Latino.
Or Indian native born.
America for all of us is home.
Strut it up.
Be proud of your ethnicity.
Strut it up.
Be proud of your diversity.
Strut it up.
Uptown, downtown, all around to be found.
Keep up your strutting.
Let the bigots and the racists,
Find the facts on their own.
America is not all Caucasian.
America is a united nation.
'You...
Will never replace us.'
'As what?
Americans?
If you want to roam on the prairies alone.
Why are you here?
To be praised, worshipped or noticed?
God is to be praised.
God is to be worshipped.
And we all are a reflection of God.
God's creation to be noticed.
If this conflicts with your beliefs?
Shouldn't your confrontations,
Start to begin and end with God?
Since only God has that power,
To replace HIS creations.
Unless...
And this could be a possibility.
There is something you know,
God, has of yet, shown the rest of us.
Other than what you expect to be known.'
