Analysis of THE WOLF AND THE LION
mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)
They are coming from every damn direction. Are these the battles that I would be fighting that my grandfather on his deathbed had mentioned? What is this family secret as the last of my bloodline I must defend?
I read all the books left behind, the pictures of wars that have passed. I took my time to look at them but could not find the means to end. The deeper I spin, the further I get in.
I can not turn around. There is no looking back. My dear child, I hear my grandmother's sweet voice singing to me to get ready. There is no longer anytime to be wild and free, for soon, they will attack
I hear all of my family saying make our fire keep burning. You can do it with more than matches. Sing the name of our song loud and proud, for now, and you are not the man but the wolf and the lion that you were born and sent down to be
I feel the temperature rise from the night's skies, for the moon and the sun never sleep alone, and here I lay inside of the person I was meant to be, looking for hidden messages in the tone of the star's glow.
Nothing is carved in stone, and I am not a holy man. all i can say is i am on my way to becoming the wolf and the lion
