Analysis of The day I think I met him
Valiantstar 1961 (Sydney)
I approached the intersection
He was sitting there; ragged clothes, ragged hair.
Looking like despair.
I parked ahead and doubled back to talk to this lost soul...
Said he had walked five hundred miles, his feet confirmed his woes.
He had the most lovely face with eyes of piercing blue.
His hands and fingers beautiful his voice meek and mild...
He said his shoes had worn out: "can you help me child?"
I gave him what I had on hand and directions to my pastor, up the way..
Report came back: he was a drunk!
Prayed for him and sent him on his way.
I called a mate and said we had a need...
He grabs some shoes and races up, but no one did he see?
Now many years later I wonder if this could be?
Who was this lonely fellow with the bloody feet and softest eyes?
When I am remembered
I break down and cry.
Angels come as strangers
Blessings in disguise...
I hope one day to see again
Those beautiful blue eyes.
