Analysis of Black Splotches

There are black splotches on the snow
Fallen from my melancholy eyes
I see sadness where I once saw us
Her in my arms and warm kisses
Laughter splattering smiles
Now lie upside down
Crying against these four walls
Trailing tears she left me to dry alone.

There are echoes of her name in space
Empty picture frames of her body
And crushed scents of kindness
Between pages of our story
I tripped over trying to turn away
Time turns them yellow
Somehow scars write reminders
Underneath in places I rather forget.

I wonder as I wander around “Am I lost?”
The pavement soaked where she was
Her departure is my exile
Paradise is an elusive path I’m on
Away now with these splotches
Let the dark ink fade
So bright colors paint a new picture
A spring time to melt the snow.
