Analysis of Mine
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
What is mine.
Alone to discover.
Knowing it earned.
And for me found to find.
Is mine.
Period. Over and out!
However.
I will agree to share it.
That I may consider.
Although not all to give away.
Nor do I believe,
What I have received...
Forever it stays to remain with me.
Exclusively.
A peace of mind,
To get and not expect it.
Is more precious to value.
Than anything one can buy.
Temporarily to impress.
Expecting long lasting happiness?
Begins to never end.
Yet...
A peace of mind discovered to find?
In times that seem,
Difficult to express...
What it means to have and it addressed.
Can not be explained.
Nor shown to know to anyone else.
Unless...
That which has been found,
Is noticed immediately in another to see.
Without a word to say.
About their peace of mind,
Kept to keep.
To feel what it is.
And theirs to own to have earned it too!
Knowing what it took to discover and value.
Is a miraculous blessing to receive achieved.
'Together...
We can share what we have.
If you wish?'
'Uh...
Why not?
At least what we have together to own...
Others may or may not leave us alone.
People are made to become jealous.
And envious to assume what appears,
With a quickness to pass judgement.'
'But...
Still they will remain,
Left to gossip about the kind of relationship...
We actually share!'
'Who cares?
They will do that anyway.'
'True!
Even if we decide to hold hands in public!'
'Whoa.
One step at a time.
I'm not ready to expose,
What we have discovered...
To find for ourselves.'
'LOL...
AINT THAT THE TRUTH.
Either way they will stay suspicious.
And...
Stop grabbing my hand like that.
I'm not going anywhere.
Who touched whose hand first?
Hmmm?
Geeessshhh.'
'I know.
LOL...
BUT,
Isn't it nice to feel...'
'Owned?
No!'
'I was going to say,
Respected, cared about and loved.'
'Well...
In public you don't have to be,
So protective.
As if I am your property.'
'Hey...
You were the one to say,
What's mine is yours.
To have and to find together.
Or have you changed your mind?'
'I can not believe this.
We're having our first argument.
And...
In public.
I love it.'
'Leave it to you.
To say something as ridiculously as that!
Here's the waiter.
Waiter?
We are ready to order our meal now.
I'll have...
A glass of wine.
And...
Also a glass if milk.
For the attention getter!'
'LOL...
Is that suppose to be some kind of message?'
'With a bib, please!'
'Oh...yes,
And waiter, before you go?
Bring us two bibs.
And one high chair also.
Thank you very much.'
'If I may ask,
For what reason did 'you' ask for a high chair?'
'To let everyone in this place know,
Which one of us...
Always wants to be seen and feel,
In control and on top of everything.'
'Ssshhh...
Keep your voice down.
And...
Please, don't look around right now...but,
Those folks sitting at that table behind you...
Have stopped eating.
Smiling at the both of us.'
'Well...
Hopefully.
And I pray.
When the waiter brings that high chair,
You won't attempt...
Getting the attention you like,
From everyone in this place.
Remember...
We came in here to quietly eat.
Not to perform a production,
Of how happy we are...
To have found each other!'
'Ssshhh.
Take my hand.
Bow our heads.
Pretend we are praying together.
And stop laughing, I'm serious!'
